Resin Driveway Company in Bathgate
For over 20 years Prestige Paving & Landscaping Ltd has been laying driveways across Central Scotland, and resin bound drives have become one of our busiest services in Bathgate. From Boghall and Wester Inch to Balbardie and Torphichen, the same small team handles your drive from survey to handover, with no call centres and no subcontractors.
Because resin is a thin, flexible finish, it’s only as good as what sits below it. We’ll either confirm your current drive is sound enough to overlay or dig it out and build a new porous base with proper edging, then mix and hand-trowel the resin on site.
- Honest advice on whether to overlay or rebuild
- Fixed written quotes with no hidden extras
- UV-stable resin and quality kiln-dried aggregates
- Colour samples brought to your survey
Resin bound driveways in Bathgate
Resin Driveway Installation in Bathgate
Resin bound driveways give Bathgate homes a clean, seamless finish that drains naturally and takes very little looking after.

We install resin bound driveways all over Bathgate, Armadale, Whitburn and Torphichen, from compact front drives to wide double driveways with paths to the door. Kiln-dried natural stone is mixed with clear UV-stable resin and hand-trowelled into a smooth, even surface with no loose chips and no weeds.
Resin bound is fully permeable, so rain soaks straight through rather than sitting in puddles or running onto the pavement, which also helps keep you on the right side of planning rules for front driveways.
Most of our resin drives are finished with a block border for a crisp, contained edge. Drag the slider to see this bungalow driveway before and after.

Edging & borders
Block borders and edging are set in concrete to frame the drive and hold the resin crisply in place.
Mix & trowel
Resin and kiln-dried stone are mixed in small batches on site and hand-trowelled to a smooth, even finish.

We clean up, leave the resin to cure and walk you round the finished drive. Usually ready to drive on within a day.
Local know-how
Resin driveways for every type of home
From the big stone villas of Balbardie and Windyknowe to the new streets at Wester Inch, resin suits almost every Bathgate home. How we lay it depends on what’s there now and how the ground falls.
Front garden conversions
On tighter streets around Boghall and Durhamtown, lawns and old paths become off-street parking, with a dropped kerb arranged through West Lothian Council if needed.
Tired tarmac or concrete
Plenty of Wester Inch homes have plain builder’s tarmac. If it’s sound, resin over the top transforms it.
Old slabs & block paving
Uneven slabs and sunken monoblock lifted out and replaced with a new base and resin.
Sloping driveways
Bathgate sits below the hills, so many drives slope. Careful levels, edging and channel drains keep water away from the house.
Older & character homes
Warm, natural resin blends and cobble borders that sit well with Bathgate’s sandstone houses.
Paths & patios to match
Resin paths to the door and garden patios in the same blend for a seamless finish.

Resin bound driveways
Resin Bound Driveways in Bathgate
Resin bound is the driveway finish most Bathgate customers ask for. Kiln-dried natural stone is coated in clear UV-stable resin and trowelled by hand into a smooth, seamless surface that looks high-end, feels solid underfoot and needs hardly any upkeep.
For a new drive we excavate, compact a stone sub-base and lay a porous base course, so the resin sits on a firm, free-draining foundation that won’t crack or dip.
- Seamless, smooth and weed-free
- Permeable, so rain drains straight through
- UV-stable resin that won’t yellow

Resin over existing drives
Resin Over Existing Driveways
If your tarmac or concrete drive is still sound, level and draining well, resin can usually go straight over it. Skipping the full dig-out makes the job quicker, tidier and usually cheaper.
We inspect the surface properly at the survey and repair any cracks or low spots first. If the base isn’t up to it, we’ll be honest that a new one is the lasting option.
- Quicker and less disruptive
- Old surface cleaned, repaired and primed
- Honest advice if a new base is needed

Resin colours & borders
Resin Colours & Borders
There’s a big choice of natural stone blends, from bright silvers and greys to warm buffs and golds. Daltex blends such as Oyster and Platinum are popular in Bathgate, and we bring samples so you can see them against your house.
We usually finish resin with a block border in charcoal, silver or a contrasting colour, for a sharp edge that keeps everything neatly in place.
- Daltex Oyster, Platinum and more
- Charcoal, silver and contrasting borders
- Samples brought to your survey

Resin paths & patios
Resin Paths & Patios
Resin works just as well for paths and patios. A matching resin path to the door or a resin seating area in the back garden gives the same smooth, low-maintenance finish and ties the whole property together.
Resin can be trowelled around curves, steps and planting beds without the awkward cuts slabs need, which makes it ideal for more complicated layouts.
- Front paths and side access
- Back garden patios and seating areas
- Curves and shapes without awkward cuts

Old drive replacements
Old Driveway to Resin
Lots of our Bathgate resin jobs start with a worn-out driveway: broken slabs, patchy concrete or a front garden with nowhere to park. We clear it all, build a proper base and finish it in resin with a block border.

Tarmac driveways
Tarmac Driveways in Bathgate

- Block and Sky Cobble borders

- Most tarmac drives laid in one or two days

Good to know
Resin driveway questions we’re often asked
How much is a resin driveway in Bathgate?
The price depends on the size of the drive, whether your current surface can be overlaid or needs digging out, access, and the resin blend and borders you choose. Overlaying sound tarmac or concrete is cheaper than a full new build. We survey Bathgate driveways for free and give you a fixed written price.
Resin bound or resin bonded: which is better?
Resin bound, in our view. The stone is mixed through the resin and trowelled smooth, so there are no loose chips and water drains through it. Resin bonded is a layer of resin with gravel scattered on top, which is rougher, sheds stones and isn’t permeable. We only lay resin bound.
Can you put resin on top of my current driveway?
Often, yes, as long as your tarmac or concrete is sound, level and drains well. We clean and repair it first. If it’s cracked, sinking or breaking up, we’ll dig it out and build a new base, otherwise the cracks would come straight through the resin.
Will I need planning permission for a resin drive in West Lothian?
Usually not, because resin bound is permeable and lets rainwater drain through, which is what the rules for front driveways generally require. Listed buildings, flats and conservation areas can be different, and a new or wider dropped kerb needs West Lothian Council’s consent.
How quickly can a resin driveway be laid?
Most resin driveways in Bathgate take two to four days, including any groundwork and borders. Overlays can be quicker. You can usually walk on it after a few hours and drive on it after around 24 hours, depending on the weather.
Does resin go yellow over time?
Not when it’s UV-stable, which is what we use. Cheap non-UV-stable resins can discolour in sunlight, so the resin matters as much as the stone. We use quality Daltex blends that hold their colour.
How much maintenance does resin need?
Hardly any. A sweep now and then and an occasional power wash keeps it looking fresh. There are no loose stones to rake and nowhere for weeds to grow in the surface.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes, all of our work is guaranteed. We’re a vetted Checkatrade member, rated 9.83/10 from 50 verified reviews, and Checkatrade’s £1,000 guarantee applies to eligible jobs (their T&Cs apply).
Which areas around Bathgate do you cover?
All of Bathgate, including Boghall, Wester Inch, Balbardie, Windyknowe and Durhamtown, plus Torphichen, Blackburn, Seafield, Armadale, Whitburn, Westfield, Blackridge and the rest of West Lothian.
